A spatial structure composed of multiple rods connected by nodes according to a certain grid form. It has the advantages of small space force, light weight, high rigidity, and good seismic performance; it can be used as the roof of gymnasiums, theaters, exhibition halls, waiting halls, stadium stand awnings, hangars, and two-way large column spacing workshops. The disadvantage is that the number of rods that meet at the nodes is large, and the fabrication and installation are more complicated than the planar structure.
There are many types of grid structures, which can be classified according to different standards.
1. According to the structure of the grid itself, it can be divided into: single-layer grid structure, double-layer grid structure; and three-layer grid structure. Among them, the single-layer network frame and the three-layer network frame are suitable for the situations with a small span (not greater than 30m) and a particularly large span (greater than 100m), respectively, and are rarely used in domestic projects.

According to the construction materials, it is divided into: steel grid, aluminum grid, wooden grid, plastic grid, reinforced concrete grid and combined grid (such as the combined grid of steel grid and reinforced concrete slab, etc.), Among them, the steel grid has been widely used in our country, and the combined grid can also be used as a floor structure.
3. According to the support situation, it can be divided into: peripheral support, four-point support, multi-point support, three-side support, opposite-side support and mixed support forms.
Fourth, according to the different composition methods, the grid can be divided into four categories:
1. Cross truss system grid;
2. Triangular pyramid system grid;
3. Square pyramid system grid;
4. Hexagonal cone system grid.
The fourth classification method is a more popular classification method in China at present.
